Thank you for taking time to access this element of our provision. This section provides a brief overview of our programmes. More detailed information can be accessed by contacting the relevant Professional Development Officers supporting each programme.
As in previous years we have brought together in one prospectus provision across our Leadership and Staff Colleges open to both school leaders and support personnel in schools and beyond. I trust that whether you work within a school or youth organisation or within any of the employing authorities or wider education partners that you will find what we offer in tune with your personal and organisational development needs..
Our education service is experiencing unprecedented change both at individual school levels and at the wider level, with new challenges demanding creative and appropriate responses. Numerous factors will determine whether the potential of the change agendas can be richly realised chief of which will be the quality of the leadership response and the levels of creativity, skill and enthusiasm by which the new possibilities are embraced by all who work within the service.
Peter Senge in his 'Leading Learning Organisations: the Bold, The Powerful and the Invisible' characterises leaders as "those who 'walk ahead'; people who are genuinely committed to deep change in themselves and in their organisations. They lead through developing new skills, capabilities and understandings and they come from many places within the organisation."
These sentiments underpin both the mission and the vision that is the Regional Training Unit. Last year an unprecedented number of leaders and other staff availed of the development opportunities on offer - personal, team and organisational - demonstrating their genuine commitment to deep change in themselves, their colleagues and their organisations.
Please consider carefully with your senior staff, or with your line manager in your employing authority, as appropriate, the relevance and value of our provision to your ongoing organisational and personal development agenda. Your journey is the pursuit of greater learning gains for pupils, young people or staff and the development of a learning community capable of maximising its mission. Your own development and that of your colleagues is crucial in this regard. I am confident that the varied development opportunities outlined in this Prospectus can make a lasting contribution to the change challenges (current and future) which lie ahead.
Thank you for your continuing interest and support.
