International Leadership Learning Programme
You are here: Home > Ipd > International Leadership Learning Programme

The International Leadership Learning Programme (ILLP) is a new RTU programme (with British Council support) which offers a unique opportunity to reflect upon leadership in an international context and investigate a particular leadership theme pertinent to school and system wide development. It builds on our International Study visit programme which in recent years has facilitated the participation by local educational leaders at the annual International School Effectiveness Conferences; the flagship Alan November eLearning Conferences in Boston: our ongoing Headteacher exchange programme with Montgomery County Public Schools, Maryland, USA and the EUN P2V Programme. The programme has been designed by RTU/British Council and seeks to optimise the benefits of our ongoing links with MCPS and with the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT), with whom our Specialist Schools are affiliated.
ILLP is open to the broad constituency of educational leaders but including crucially headteachers and other senior school leaders who will learn together and learn on behalf of others. As well as offering an excellent professional development opportunity, it is also designed to have a positive impact on school and system development. It is aimed at those who wish to develop leadership capacity, implementing changes to benefit their school/organisation/system and share their learning to benefit others.
You may apply in writing for the programme individually or as part of an existing group, identifying your areas of interest. We will then research and identify an appropriate destination where you can explore powerful leadership practice, local challenges and solutions in your chosen enquiry focus. You will return to influence your school/organisation and locality/region and, through effective dissemination, share your learning with the wider education system.
